# Introduction to Slash Damage

## What can I do with Slash Damage?

The Slash Damage mod adds a new `/damage` command to Minecraft. This wiki is here to show you how to add your own mod's damage sources to the command's suggestion.

## 1. Create your mod's file

In your mod's `resources` folder, create the `data` folder if it's not already there. Then, in that `data` folder, create the `slash_damage` folder, and inside it, the `damage_sources` folder. Inside the `damage_sources` folder, create a file named `<mod_id>.json`.

{% hint style="info" %}
You need to replace `<mod_id>` with your actual mod id!
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
**Example:** <https://github.com/Max094Reikeb/Electrona-Project/blob/1.18.2-FORGE/src/main/resources/data/slash_damage/damage_sources/electrona.json>
{% endhint %}

## 2. Add your damage sources

The second and last step is to add your damage sources in the file you created in the previous step! They must be in an array named `name`, under the form `mod_id:name`.

{% code title="Example.json" %}

```json
{
  "name": [
    "real_mod:car_crash",
    "real_mod:plane_crash",
    "real_mod:drowning"
  ]
}
```

{% endcode %}

## 3. And then?

Then, it's done! Commit your changes, and now, every time your mod and Slash Damage are loaded together, your mod's damage sources will be suggested as damage sources in the `/damage` command!

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://max094reikeb.gitbook.io/slash-damage/introduction-to-slash-damage.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
